Laura Arredondo of Delano Family Motors, which she runs with brothers José and Sergio Arredondo, is also a Spanish-language radio talk show host, a champion of farmworking immigrants and the host of a community Thanksgiving dinner at Delano’s Armory Hall every year.
A spiritual person — she built a free-standing chapel behind her house where she prays, meditates and “finds peace” — Arredondo constantly encourages others with bold messages of hope. She has even published a bilingual collection of inspirational messages, sayings and stories called “A New Beginning,” which she gives away free at the family dealership. The back of her business card says, “The fruit of faith is love and the fruit of love is service. How may I help you?” in English and Spanish.
Pray and meditate in front of what and who? Santa Muerte? No Catholic system allows worship without a congregation. If I need to get back to church before my frackin' blog gets declared a cult why do Mexicans get special treatment? The usual explanation is they're too stupid and downtrodden to know better so they can only survive within a socialist system enforcing a double standard. And that never sits well with me.
Her Saturday morning Spanish radio show “El Poder de Saber” (“The Power of Knowing”) on La Preciosa 105.3 FM, features guest speakers such as immigration and worker’s compensation attorneys, doctors, financial consultants and others who help inform listeners about rights and privileges available to them.
So I'm white, I have no rights and I can't use the socialist system. I have to learn Espanol if I want to listen to the radio. Why don't I have any information for me so I can know what rights I have available? What, I'm not a part of the Reconquista and if I stay in California I have to be chained by the neck to a sow?
